Bebo is the next generation social networking site where members can stay in touch with their College friends, connect with friends, share photos, discover new interests and just hang out. Bebo is the online community allowing you to share address book, photos and blogs.

  • Cost — free with ads, with adsense revenue share if successful

Blogit

Pay site to support the bloggers who participate in the group. Everyone who uses the site pays subscription and cash is divided up according to who gets the most reads.

Comes pre-installed with quite a few Gadgets & Themes, but not much beyond that. Great if doing site with only blog and gallery. So easy to use. Simplest layout and themes changes I've found. Very nice, but needs needs Images Upload, Contact form. Looks great but just too simple to get anything done with it.

  • Comments — excellent and easy to use with very nice interface and support for MIME emails plus customisable fields. Only catch is no bounce processing. Currently used for Cubitt Gallery mailing list.

Upgrading poMMo

In general, upgrading poMMo is a straight forward process. After copying the new files over the old, visit poMMo. It will will detect a version mismatch and direct you to a web based upgrade script which handles updating the database and other information.

To upgrade poMMo, follow these steps.

1. Check for any upgrade bulletins related to the new version.

2. Backup your database (just in case anything goes terribly wrong).

a. Login to the Adept Control Panel.
b. Under Databases, click myPHP Admin.
c. Use the drop-down Databases menu to select _pommo.
d. Click on Export.
e. Use the default settings, but tick the Save as file box and tick the gzipped radio button.
f. Click Go to export file.
g. Add the date prefix (2007_06_22_) and save to the folder:
mailout/

3. Login to PoMMO and export your subscribers to a CSV file.

4. Add the date prefix (2007_06_22_) and save to the folder:

mailout/

5. Logout of PoMMO.

6. Put up the Mailing List Maintenace page by renaming:

mailinglist/index.html to index_BAK.html
mailinglist/index_maint.html to index.html

7. Copy the following folder to your local computer for backup:

mailinglist/

8. Delete the contents of the following folder from the webserver (DO NOT delete the file index.html!):

mailinglist/

9. Copy the new version of poMMo to the webserver folder:

10. Change the permissions on the following folder to 777:

mailinglist/cache/

11. Restore the original Configuration File to the webserver:

mailinglist/config.php

12. Restore the following Cubitt Themes files to the webserver.:
